Last year was really a turning point in my life. Up 'till the end of 08, I was a really bitter person, and only focusing on the bad going on in my life at present, and past; and not on all the good. Well It hit me really hard that I had to stop and forgive and apologizes for the things that have happened to me, and for the things I have done...
Like for instance, in 2005, some things happened to me that really messed me up emotionally (I don't really want to go into detail), and I lost a lot of trust in people, and put up huge barriers so I wouldn't get hurt again. Well as I started to forgive (though I'm not sure I'll ever forget), little by little my barrier started to come down, and I started to be a little more like the person I was before.
I feel much better now about the things in the past, and that's just what they are: the past. I have to look ahead and not dwell on things that happened, and start thinking on the good things that could happen. Life has it's up and downs, I'm just starting to except the downs and to be able to move on.
Last year I forgave and apologized for all the things that bothered me, and God has really blessed me with some good things in 09 and 10!
Like I said, hopefully one day I'll be able to forget certain things, but for now I'm happy to forgive.
Thanks for reading, take care and God bless, cheers! = )

The Year For Love?...
That's what it's starting to look like for 2010. It seems to me that everyone I know, is either falling in love, or getting married or engaged, or renewing their vows. I'm very happy for all my friends and family out there that have found that special someone, and being happy. As far as my love life goes...Well I'm still looking. Now don't get me wrong, there is someone that I like, but it hasn't gone any farther then that, lol. ; -) I feel like this is the year for me. Things that have happed to me in the past have really put a different outlook on dating and relationships for me, and this is the year, that I'm starting to forgive and forget.
My heart is always open for love, and God has blessed me with such amazing and supportive friends and family that have helped me through the though times. In years past, I would get so upset about being single, or when I would see a happy couple pass me; and I'm excited to say that it doesn't bother me anymore (or at least when it's not during that time of the month, hee-hee)! For all you single people out there (including me), I know it's really hard sometimes to not have your special someone (believe me, I probably know how hard it is the most, what being single for the past 3 years...), I have noticed that I tend to get asked out more, if I just stop worrying, and put it in God's hands, and (here's the really hard part) wait. I know that someday, I'll be as lucky as my big sister, and have a husband that is my best friend and lover. = )
The Beatles had it right with "I want to hold your hand"! That's what I want, a friend, relationship, love. There's someone out there for us all, we just have to be patient sometimes. ; - )
All for now, wow, it's been awhile since I've posted anything, lol. Thanks for reading, and God bless! = )

The Perfect Christmas Gift…
I can’t believe that’s been almost a month since my last post and thought I would talk about Christmas.
It’s that time of year again, it’s getting colder, right now it’s snowing outside my house, it’s a week before Christmas and people are running around looking for that perfect gift for their loved ones. Though many of us forget what Christmas is really about and that the perfect gift is right in front of us. Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our savor Jesus Christ and to thank him for all that he has blessed us with, so that we are able to go out and get those gifts for our friends and family. So why spend tons of money and stress running to store after store looking for the right gift, when all you need to do is to sit down and talk to God, and remember that it’s because of him that Christmas exists.
So take a moment (or two or three or how ever long you want), and thank God for all your blessings that he has blessed you with. Christmas is a time to be with the ones you love and remembering God’s love and generosity. So when you’re looking everywhere for that perfect gift, remember that the perfect gift has already been given to us all, and that we should take time out of our busy lives to give thanks to the one who gave it to us. Thank You Jesus! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas! Sláinte, and God bless! = )

Dating and Religion
This always seams to be a big issue in dating, well at least it is for me. I’ve heard many times before from people, “why do you always insist on dating a guy who is of the same faith as you?”, and my answer is this:
In the dating world, isn’t having similar interests always high up there on our lists when it comes down to the opposite sex? If religion is very important to you, don’t you want a partner that shares your same beliefs? Well that’s what it is for me. I’m a strong Christian and love God very much; so yes, I do want to date a Christian guy. God and my Christian faith is VERY important to me and I want to date someone who shares that same belief as I do.
Call me picky or whatever you want; but I only have two big rules for me when it comes down to dating: 1: I would like the man I date to be a Christian, and 2: That he be older then me, but no more then lets say 7 years. That’s it. Now I’m not judge mental at all, I just believe if it’s an important part of your life, then you should share that with your partner.
So just as if you’re looking for your partner to also like sports, the outdoors, going to the movies ect. don’t you think God should be a part of that as well? I’ve seen many relationships with different faiths, and how they are always knocking heads with each other because they both believe in different religions; and unfortunately, they don‘t last very long. Now I have also seen where couples share the same religion, and the head knocking is quite low and they last a lot longer.
God wants us to have a loving relationship with our other half, AND with Him. He created us and what makes us unique and why we have these interests.
So that’s my thought for the day. Sláinte, and God bless! = )

Home Is Where The Heart Is
You’ve heard the expression “Home is where the heart is”; well it’s very true. Even though I was born and raised in VA, it’s not where my heart is. While walking down by Market Square tonight, I looked up and saw the clock tower and how the light was hitting it and the pink clouds set behind it. It reminded me of where I call home, and how much I miss it.
Up there, where there are more cows then people, you can be in the country and city all at once, where the people are polite and never in a rush because they stop to smell the roses and say hello as you walk by, one of the few places I know where it’s not uncommon for a moose to walk down Main St, and most importantly, that’s where my heart is.
You might me wondering by now where that is exactly. Well it’s about 540 miles North of Washington, DC in a little town known as Montpelier, VT. A lot of my family lives up there and I’ve even lived there for 9 months, and it’s one of the best places that I’ve ever been too. It’s been about 3 years since I’ve been there, and I’m planning a trip to go up real soon. If you’re ever in the area, you should stop by and have a cup of coffee and walk around town. It’s such a little hippie town, and everyone there is so down to earth and real. Not to mention it’s one of the prettiest states I’ve ever been to.
The maple farms, and wood smoke from the houses, the way the leaves look in the fall, the never ending snow in the winter, all the great places to go hiking and camping; it’s home to me. I mean, where else can you see Chris Thile sitting on a bench down town playing his mandolin and just hanging out? Just so many things that I love about that place, and how I miss it. Well I just thought that I would put that here before I’m off to bed for the night. Sláinte, and God bless! = )

And so it begins….
So the creation of my blog begins on this cold and rainy Friday night. So first let me just say hi, and thanks for reading. With that said, I wanted to create this blog and to write about things that are weighing on my mind. Very often, I will lie awake at night, and a thought will pop into my head. Maybe it was something I saw earlier that day, a conversation I had with a loved one or friend, or running to fast in the airport and almost splattered against the sliding doors (long story). ; - )
Whatever the thought might be, I want to jot it down before I forget. As it says in the header: “An old school point of view, living in a modern society”; that is just what I am, and what I like to write about. So without further ado, I give to you my first post of, The Rambling Brook. Sláinte, and God bless! = )
